Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP)

 

Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world. A combination of paddling and surfing, SUP is easy to learn and offers a fun body full workout. No experience is necessary for this popular cross-training activity.

Start / End Dates

Session 1 - Introduction: Classes begin on Thursday, July 5 and end on Thursday, July 26.

Session 2 - Tour Series: Classes begin on Thursday, August 9 and end on Thursday, August 30.

6:00pm-7:00pm (1 hour).

Class Info

This SUP course includes all equipment and certified instructor. Classes are an hour in length with a 1:7 ratio. Ongoing instruction will build on each session for a smooth skill progression and each class will have tour and free time to practice.

 

Session 1:  Introduction to SUP

The introductory session will provide a knowledge of, basic SUP equipment, getting on and off your board, how to balance & basic strokes.  Each class will review the basics while adding paddling techniques and extended amount of SUP touring.  If you would like to try SUP yoga, the instructor will also guide you through the steps.

Locations: Little Lake (class 1 & 2), Roblin Lake (class 3 & 4). 

Session 2: Tour Series 

This SUP tour based program will take participants to a variety of beautiful locations around the Bay of Quinte Region.  It is recommended that participants have tried SUP before or have some experience paddling (of any sort) and be comfortable on the water as this is more of an intermediate program.  A short review on safety and basic SUP skills will be covered on the first day.

Locations: Little Lake, Roblin Lake, Wellington Bay and North Beach

Cost (plus HST) Individual Registration is $120 +HST

# of People per Class

Minimum 5 and Maximum 7 people per class.

Required Equipment

The following is provided for each participant:

  • Board
  • Paddle
  • PFD (life jacket).
Participants should wear athletic gear that can get wet and bring sunscreen and a water bottle.

Rules

Participants must wear a PFD (provided) and sign a waiver form. Instruction will be provided by a Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater certified instructor.
